Extras:
On the left is the average list of applications pre-installed on our systems. They are not all required, and there are many more available. We feel these are a good base to start with. You can add and remove as needed.
When I last checked, there were 21,206 packages available to install. Even more can be added, these are just what are available after our regular install.
With all these programs / applications available, it can be overwhelming trying to find out what is available, let alone what you actually
need or want. For example, many people will want a chat program, but not many will want aMSN, Kopete, Centericq, Gaim, Jabber, Kmess, Naim, Pork, Sim etc. all installed on one system. Your best bet is to tell us what your needs are and we will
advise you what your options are.
As time permits we will be adding an applications page where you will be able to search for applications by group i.e., Web Browsers, Server Applications, Games etc. Until then, you can search this temporary and rather crude group of text files here.
***Please note***
As stated, this is VERY crude at the moment. As you can imagine, 21,206 packages will take some time to sort out and put in some kind of meaningful order. If for example, you are looking for Science applications, you should look in the science, universe-science and multiverse-science sections.
Also, remember this does not represent everything that is available, but it is a good start!
